Horton Bay Heritage Farm is a working Northern Michigan farmstead and local farm goods store offering nursery plants, fresh produce, cut flowers, and heritage-breed livestock. Our land is both a place to shop for locally grown goods and a welcoming destination for visitors to explore and enjoy farm life.
Although we are not certified organic, we grow using organic practices with a focus on healthy soil, clean food, natural fertility, and responsible pest management. We believe in being transparent about how we farm and are always happy to share the growing practices and products we use here at Horton Bay Heritage Farm.

Farm-grown vegetables, garlic and greens harvested with the season. Shop our small farm stand during regular farm hours when produce is available, and watch for occasional pick-your-own opportunities.

Our on-farm plant nursery grows hardy garden plants suited to Northern Michigan, including vegetable starts, perennials, shrubs, and edible plants. We propagate using seeds, cuttings, and divisions, producing resilient nursery stock grown on-site in our greenhouse and outdoor growing areas.

We grow farm-fresh cut flowers and floral accents using sustainable growing practices. Our seasonal selection includes annuals, perennials, foliage, and specialty stems for bouquets, DIY flower buckets, and seasonal floral offerings grown on our farm.

We raise heritage-breed livestock on pasture using rotational grazing systems that support animal health, soil regeneration, and biodiversity. Our farm includes Dexter cattle, Katahdin sheep, poultry, and rabbits raised as part of a diversified, regenerative farming system.

Our demonstration gardens showcase practical, regenerative growing systems in action, including a food forest, kitchen herb garden, pollinator plantings, and hedgerows. These gardens highlight methods that integrate productivity, biodiversity, and ecological resilience on a working Northern Michigan farm.

As our farm grows, we hope to share more of it through seasonal farm experiences, garden walks, educational workshops and occasional pick-your-own opportunities. These events are offered as the farm and season allow, with opportunities announced throughout the year.

During our regular seasonal farm hours, visitors can shop our nursery and small farm stand at Horton Bay Heritage Farm. Our offerings change with the farm and the season, from nursery plants and farm-grown produce to cut flowers and other limited farm offerings.
The historic Glorie Be Farm Store is part of our future plans as we continue building and growing the farm. For now, shopping is simple, seasonal and centered around what we're growing and producing here at the farm.
